This week, we started off by separating ourselves into groups to work on our three selected songs. I was assigned to help Thaddeus with his songs, together with Vanessa, YingHui and YanYun. Tim reminded us again that we should write new songs every week. We should never stop writing songs.
Currently for Thaddeus's song, we are working on his bridge. We took turns to listen to his composition, so as to get the feel of his song. Then, we went to the 'jamming room' of studio C. We took turn to sit down at the piano. Everyone created different chords progression. We played them for Thaddeus. At the end, he did not took any of our progression. But our hard work wasn't wasted ah. While we were playing our chords progression, Thaddeus suddenly got an idea, he sat down on the piano and started playing out his own chords progression. I'm really glad that no one was emotionally affected by the fact that their chords progression wasn't used by Thaddeus. Everyone focus in working on the song. Like I can tell that we all want the best out of Thaddeus's song, even though it was his song. I feel like to share your own song and allow other people to make changes on them is not really something everyone can do it. I too write songs with my feelings and stories. It's a really personal thing, and definitely everyone's way of interpreting the story are different. It's really hard to put a song out there and watch as people make changes to your memories, or interpret it however they like. To comment at it or laugh at it. "No. No. No. It's not like this." That's probably what's gonna be in my head. Watching everyone sharing their songs for us, for this Prow module, I thought about it for awhile. Maybe that's why communication is really important in a production team. You have to talk about feelings, views, music and technical stuff. You have to understand each other, and have to trust each other.
Adela's question about the two types of producer, the one that wants to leave their own markings and the one that wants to bring the best out of a song. Is about respecting the feelings the song writer have for their song. I feel that feelings are precious, especially in a world like this. To share a certain feelings, a song you wrote, is like a good heart to heart talk with whoever that are listening to your songs. Just like what Tim had said, everyone have their own special someone. When the person is listening to your song, it would remind them of that special someone or that special moment, and like it doesn't matter if those memories are sad or not, but I feel like it can make them feel like they are not alone? Yea. HAHAHAHA
For now, I really don't mind sharing my songs to them, receive comments, and allow people who respect my feelings and my songs to make changes to them. People who wants to bring out the best of my songs. I feel like a production team needs this kind of respect and trust, only then can we really bring out the best in a person's song.
The rest of the time I was working on my songs ah. So yea
Thats all
Bye :)
