PROW Week 6 - My PROW Journal

PROW Week 6

We came to school 1 hour earlier, to discuss further more about our presentation, and also to rehearse it for the final time. Apparently, we forgot that we had to meet up with Erica mid-week to inform her about our presentation's flow and to consult her. I feel that our presentation was not up to expectation, we had all the creative, interesting ideas, but it wasn't well received by the audience. After listening to the feed backs, I reflected a bit on the way we come up with this whole presentation. We sat down together and everyone gave a lot of crazy ideas. Everyone was really supportive. "Don't care about whether if it is practical or not. We shouldn't let that limit our creativity."
Where did we went wrong?

Then I realise that, maybe it is because after these few weeks of bonding, we can pretty much understand one another without having the need to explain too much. Therefore, while planning on our presentation, everyone was looking through their own point of view. Naturally, we would be able to understand what the presentation is about, and what are we trying to tell or show. We forgot to ask question, to question our own presentation, we forgot to look from the audience's point of view. That is why there are so many 'holes' in our presentation. So many questions asked, so many people struggling to get or understand what we are trying to present. I've learnt to always think in depth and look from different people's point of view. I have also learnt to stay focus, that during a presentation, what matter the most is whether your audience get you clearly or not. Hopefully, this can apply to many other stuff other than just prow and presentation, but in my life.
We started off by borrowing equipment from IRC, setting up to prep for our recording session. We planned to record Guitar parts and vocals for Bo's song. We set up the recording room with AKG C414B and a few SM57. According to Bo, some of them pick up different sound.

We used the AKG C414B as the room mic and used the SM57 to record from the Amp. The mic was placed around an inch away from the core so as to get the type of sound that Bo wants. After setting up, we received a message in the group chat from Wee Ann, asking for help for his song's lyrics. Therefore, we went to 2044 to help Wee Ann out.
After realising that his lyrics was of Japanese language, only YingHui and Vanessa stayed to help. As the rest of us do not know Japanese at all. HAHAHAHA Having enough people helping out on both side, the rest of us continue to work on other songs.
~*After that, we went for lunch break! :B*~
After lunch, they continued recording for Bo's songs, while the others did their stuff. After that, everyone sat down to review the recordings.

For Bo's song there is this section with just distortion and noise. I suggested that maybe we could add some whisperings to that section because Bo song's is about not in love anymore. Tim and I both feels like with the distortion going on. It is almost as if the guy in a big mess. The one he likes does not like him back or love. He is trying to deceive himself into believing that he does not love the girl anymore or maybe to plan to give up on the girl. The whispering can be like the honest feelings of the guy. The despair that he did not want to face. Really like all the twist.

From the intro, you would think that the song is something romantic and sweet. But the lyrics turn out to be a guy telling himself that he is not in love anymore. Then, the distortion comes in and break the mask that the guy had wore. Is just like a person. The first impression, getting close and knowing the vulnerable side of them. I don't know but i see it that way ah. HAHAHAHA  I think the distortion also show the inner conflict the guy is having. He love the girl, but the girl doesn't love him back. He wants to give up on the girl, but sometimes feelings don't go our way. The pain is too much that he have to deceive himself into thinking that he is not in love anymore. But maybe sometimes thats just how it works. Its all in the mind. Love. Feelings. They only exist because we believe that they are true. Or maybe not.
